I am planning a trip to LA in the new year and I am trying to plan places to shop. Seeing as you blog about fashion and live in LA I was wondering if you could maybe do a little post about your favourite places to shop in the city? Or maybe even a recommend a couple of good restaurants?

Wow, I don’t know where to start. LA has so many different neighborhoods for shopping and eating, I think it’s probably best to split them up in groups rather than give you a list to blindly chase after on your own. So if I were to spend a day at a time in LA, this is what I would do:

By the beach. On a clear day, I would start in Malibu and work my way down. For breakfast, nothing beats the macadamian nut pancakes at Paradise Cove. After stuffing myself silly I’d walk it off at the Malibu Country Mart stopping by Madison, Planet Blue, Ron Herman and Alice + Olivia. If I started too late for breakfast, I’d grab a bistecca sandwich from the side window of Tra di Noi and enjoy it in the picnic area. After that I’d drive down to Montana Ave to window shop at LF Stores, Michael Stars and The Wagging Tail. If I were alone, I’d hop into Yoga Works for a quick yoga session and then reward myself with a blood orange italian ice at Di Dio’s Italian Ice. Then I’d head over to Fred Segal to do some damage and walk to the 3rd Street Promenade last (since the stores here are open later) and finish the evening off with a pasta dinner at Fritto Misto.

Beverly Hills. Brunch at Barneys is a must — the bread sticks dipped in cream cheese is incredibly addicting. After a plate of smoked salmon, I’d walk down to start my shopping rounds. After making my way through Barneys and Neiman Marcus, I’d skip Saks and do some window shopping on Rodeo Dr (Chanel!) and some actual shopping on Beverly Dr and finish off with a late lunch at Il Pastaio for their mushroom ravioli in truffle sauce. I’d book a brow appointment at one of the brow masters and pick up some Sprinkles cupcakes, if there isn’t a ridiculous line. Then I’d drive a few blocks over to Century City to shop the sale racks at Bloomie’s and pick up a couple of dresses (and boots!) at Cusp. When I’m all tired out, I’d finish off with dinner at Bossa Nova, their chicken brochette to start and skirt steak to guarantee that food coma.

The other side of Beverly Hills. I’d start with brunch at The Farm on Beverly before heading out east. I’d spend most of the day on Robertson Blvd, hitting up Maxfield, Curve, Intermix, Lisa Kline and etc. If I need a break, I’d go to Michel Richard for a plate of pate on toast points and stock up on chocolate eclairs (sold out by noon) and palmiers. Then I’d drive out to Melrose for the other Fred Segal, Marc Jacobs stores, Miu Miu and Costume National. If I had time, I’d do the shopping walk up and down Beverly Blvd and 3rd St (Satine) before heading to dinner. When it gets dark, I’d head to the Farmer’s Market by The Grove for the Brazilian BBQ at Pampas Grill and top off with a banana/nutella crepe at the French Crepe Company. Then I’d walk across to the Grove for some night shopping… Barney’s Coop, Anthropologie and my favorite Nordstrom’s.

Hmmm. I guess I know what I’m doing this weekend. I hope this list helps! If there are any other specific neighborhoods you will be going to, let me know and I’m sure I can come up with more recommendations. =)
